FRIENDS OF LAGOON VALLEY FILE LAWSUIT

Vacaville , California -- April 6, 2005

Friends of Lagoon Valley (FLV) will hold a Press Conference on Thursday, April 7 at 12 noon at Lagoon Valley Road just off I-80 in Vacaville to announce the filing of a lawsuit against the City of Vacaville and developer Triad Communities, L.P. in an attempt to prevent subdivision development in the Valley.  The lawsuit, to be filed at the Solano County Courthouse by environmental attorney Stuart Flashman, challenges the City’s approvals of the Lower Lagoon Valley Policy Plan Implementation Project. The reason for challenging these approvals is that they are inconsistent with the Vacaville General Plan and the 1991 Lower Lagoon Valley Policy Plan, and that they violate the California Density Bonus law (Government Code §65915) as well as the City’s ordinance implementing that law.

Friends of Lagoon Valley is composed of Vacaville and Solano County residents; its vision for Lagoon Valley , the western gateway to Vacaville , is to have a nearby, accessible, open, green, peaceful, urban getaway that everyone can enjoy instead of housing sprawl and traffic snarl on I-80.  According to FLV Spokesperson Marian Conning, the group is “inalterably, unequivocally, indisputably and uncompromisingly opposed to subdivision development in the Valley.”  Within the past year, Friends of Lagoon Valley gathered over 13,000 verified signatures on two petitions to refer an earlier Lagoon Valley subdivision plan to the voters of Vacaville .

The PRESS CONFERENCE will be held “rain or shine” at Lagoon Valley Road just off I-80 on Thursday, April 7 at 12:00 noon.
