U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jack Jarrell of Standard Pacific Homes, Inc. has applied to the Army Corps of Engineers (Sacramento District) for a permit "to place dredged or fill material and/or work in approximately 11.9 acres of waters of the United States and temporarily impact 1.0 acre of waters of the United States, to construct the Lower Lagoon Valley residential housing, mixed-use development." The Friends of Lagoon Valley has submitted comment responses urging the Corps to deny a permit for the impact of the 1546-acre development in the Lower Lagoon Valley, the subject of their file #200300760. We find this proposed development to be incompatible with the wetlands and wildlife of the Lower Lagoon Valley. You can read our comment letter here.
The Friends of Lagoon Valley contracted with Mr. Tim
DeGraff of WRA Environmental Consultants in San Rafael for a site visit to
Lagoon Valley and a peer review of Standard Pacific's Jurisdictional
Determination
